A Beggar's Faith
SCRIPTURE
Luke 11:13 NIV If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!
NUGGET
Most beggars learn to live in a paradigm of expectation. They stand on a corner, hold up their sign, and expect people to respond with generosity. Their life depends on the gifts of others, and expectation is part of their normal routine. In a way, they are accustomed to doing life with faith. When they show up on a street corner they expect to receive what they are begging for. Why is it that many beggars have more faith than most Christ-followers? Furthermore, what is keeping you from holding out your hands to a good, faithful God?
ACTIVATION
Ask the Lord to increase healthy, faith-filled expectation. Ask Him for the very thing you have been too afraid to ask Him for. Write it down, put a date by it, and don’t quit until you get breakthrough with God.
PRAYER
Holy Spirit, I open my hands to you today. I am ready to receive what You are offering. My hopes are up again as I lean into expectation with You. In the name of Jesus, I silence every fear, hindrance, and lie of the enemy that has caused me to retract or reduce my God-approved expectation. Thank You for increasing my faith, Jesus!
