RESToration
SCRIPTURE
Matthew 11:29-30 NIV Come to me all you who are weary and heavy-laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
NUGGET
If you’re breathing, then you’ve known burden. Each of us at one time or another is yoked to some pretty weighty stuff - relationships, finances, work, provision, loss, illness, self worth… and the list goes on. Jesus reminds us His yoke is easy and His burden is light. But, in order to put on the yoke of Jesus, we must first remove the yoke we’ve been carrying. It’s also important to note that a yoke is made for work. So, Jesus isn’t saying that with His yoke you won’t have to pull your share, but He IS saying you won’t believe how much simpler it can be. In fact, it will feel like rest for your soul.
ACTIVATION
Jesus invites us to learn from Him. Let’s posture ourselves to be gentle and humble in heart as He is, desiring to be teachable and receive His new perspective. Remember, sometimes we must be willing to unlearn old behaviors before we can learn new ones.
PRAYER
Today I will purpose to put on Your yoke, Jesus, believing in Your promises to ease my burdens and lighten my load. Thank You for the RESToration that is coming.
