Hurt Versus Harm
SCRIPTURE
Hebrews 4:12 NIV For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
NUGGET
There is a big difference between hurt and harm. No one likes pain, and it’s natural to be pain-avoidant. But there is a kind of pain that can actually promote health and healing. Surgery is a great example. It’s painful, but ultimately promotes healing. God’s heart and Word are able to cut through spiritual cancer, unhealthy attitudes, and destructive patterns in order to free us from harm. His love may allow something hurtful for a moment, but it is always paired with healing and health. He simply loves us too much to leave us in harm's way.
ACTIVATION
Is there any pain you are processing without God right now? Is there any place you are avoiding pain altogether? Are you willing to invite God into your pain? The way you answer these questions can make a significant impact on your spiritual and emotional growth.
PRAYER
Papa, thank You for always having kind intentions towards me. Thank You for being trustworthy with my pain. I invite You today into the painful places in my life. Bring growth and healing from the hurt in Jesus name.
