Healthy Criticism

SCRIPTURE
Prov. 27:9 NASB Oil and perfume make the heart glad, And a person’s advice is sweet to his friend.

NUGGET
In The Rational Bible by Dennis Prager, his editor, Joseph Telushkin states, “…if no one feels comfortable criticizing you, the likelihood that you will be better tomorrow is most probably nonexistent.” Woh! Feedback is so important. How well do you receive it? I know I can feel defeated, defensive, or just plain small after receiving criticism. But this quote makes me want to embrace it (from people who truly care about me.) Growth happens when we are open to improvement. Improvement is process-oriented instead of destination-oriented. God is all about the process and journey with us. He longs for us to grow more and more like His Son, Jesus.

ACTIVATION
Are you open to feedback? How do you usually receive it? If you are feedback-adverse, ask the Lord about it. Growth is a choice and it never has an expiration date!

PRAYER
Papa, bring healthy friends into my life who carry wisdom. Give me an open heart to receive feedback and healthy criticism so that I can grow into the fullness of who You are inviting me to become.
