Fruit of the Spirit
SCRIPTURE
Gal. 5:22-23a ESV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
NUGGET
If you've ever seen Galatians 5:22, then it was probably on a dainty hand towel in someone's kitchen (well, maybe not, but you get the point.) This verse is easier to display than to really live out. So how do we take it more seriously in our everyday lives? By examining the kind of "fruit" we are producing. How are we treating those around us? Are we bearing the fruit of frustration and impatience or the fruit of kindness and patience towards others? It may sound daunting at first, but rather than feel discouraged, allow the list in Galatians to serve as a gracious reminder to walk with the Holy Spirit in real time (not just displayed in our home).
ACTIVATION
Take some time to ask the Lord to bring to light the fruit you’ve been producing lately. Compare your responses with the fruit described in Galatians 5. As the Holy Spirit gently reveals areas of weakness, ask Him for supernatural power to grow and develop His fruit in you. God is faithful and will not despise a humble heart.
PRAYER
Lord, have Your way in me. Holy Spirit I long to live my life full of good fruit and fastened to You. Please cultivate in me what pleases You so that my life would point others to Jesus! In Your most precious name, Amen.
