Complaining
SCRIPTURE
Philippians 2:14-16 NIV "Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life."
NUGGET
We live in a world where it’s far easier to complain than to be grateful or speak blessing. In fact, it can be hard to catch ourselves grumbling because we hear it so often! The Word of God emphasizes our speech, and it makes sense because our words are a powerful witness to the world. When we choose to speak life rather than death, people notice.
ACTIVATION
Ask the Holy Spirit for the ability to be hyper-aware of your speech today. When you feel the urge to complain or grumble, offer a prayer of gratitude instead and tell God what you’re thankful for.
PRAYER
Lord, I confess that it’s so easy to lose sight of all You’ve given me and complain about what I don’t have. Renew my vision to see all the good You’ve poured into my life, and stir up a grateful heart of praise instead. Thank You for Your mercy and compassion. Let the words I choose be a light that points others to You!
