Hope and Dissapointment

SCRIPTURE
Psalm 39:7 NLT “And so, Lord, where do I put my hope? My only hope is in you.”

NUGGET
If you’ve been on this earth for any amount of time, then you’ve experienced the heavy fog of disappointment. It’s enough to weigh any person down and deter hope from rising again. But if disappointment is the sadness felt from misplaced expectations, it begs the question...what have  our expectations been in from the start?  The only one who can handle the weight of our expectations is Jesus. Our every hope, dream and  breath can safely rest on His shoulders. We may not always understand His timing or ways (especially when we’ve prayed for something different) but we CAN  lean back and trust His character and heart for us. He is working in ways we don’t always see and our hope can securely be anchored to Him!

ACTIVATION
The next time you sense disappointment creeping in, consider it a gentle reminder to STOP and ask the Lord where and in what you've placed your hope. Take time to write down what the Holy Spirit reveals to you, and ask Him to renew your hope in Him today!

PRAYER
Lord, I admit that I easily place my hope in things other than You. Help me today to trust Your good character and know that all my dreams, prayers and hopes can safely rest on Your shoulders!
