The Everlasting Way

SCRIPTURE
Psalm 139:23-24 NASB Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.

NUGGET
There was a season in my life when I prayed this scripture every day. As Christ followers, we all want to walk uprightly before God and be led in the "everlasting way." The translation I read for years was to see if there is any "wicked way" in me. But then, one day, I found a translation that said, "hurtful way" and it took my prayer to a whole new level. The original Hebrew there means, "image of an idol" but also means "way of pain." So then, my prayer became, "Lord, show me if I'm doing anything that is hurting someone else or myself!"  Game changer, right there.

ACTIVATION

PRAYER
Father, thank You for being good and merciful to me! I ask You to search my heart and reveal anything I might be doing that is causing pain to someone else or myself. Thank You for leading me in Your everlasting way!
